Well, not exactly cyber-stalking. Last week, I was walking down the street on the Lower East Side when I passed someone I recognized from college. His name didn’t come to me immediately, but we were definitely friends back then, although we hadn’t seen each other since I left Boston in 1994. I spun around after a second and made an attempt to catch up with him, but he was walking very quickly. I couldn’t call out his name because I couldn’t remember it, plus he was on his cell phone. I gave up, and off he went into the night. I turned back towards my original destination and, of course, his name popped into my head. The next day, I decided to Google him, to see if I could find an email address. Sure enough, one popped up, so I shot off a note, telling him what had happened. Turns out he lives in Boston, but is in New York weekly — we met up for drinks last night and caught up on the past thirteen years (ack!), at least on a superficial level. Looking forward to hanging out more, Mayer, and glad I stalked you!
