One of the things I love about the city is the number of people you can pass in any given day who are singing out loud as they go about their day. Really — you should try counting one day. I think the number has gone up since the advent of the iPod, but I’m firmly convinced that there’s something about the streets of New York that make people feel anonymous enough that they feel comfortable singing. And yes, I’m one of those people, so you can count me in your tally.
Sing, Sing a Song

there was a guy yesterday morning on the N (I think) train.. He’d belt out a line full volume singing, then talk to the person next to him.. Then another line full volume, then more chitchat. At first we were all like “uh oh, not another guy who’s cutting through looking for money”.. But this guy was different somehow. It was just comical. He’d bump into someone by accident, belt out another line, and without missing a beat appologize, complement a cute woman for her smile, and belt again..
a bunch of us (random people who don’t know each other besides being in the same train that morning) looked at each other with the scrunched “this is really funny, right?” face..
I haven’t enjoyed a ride to work that much in a while.
