This article, describing Rev. Jerry Fallwell’s plan for an “evangelical revolution,” made me gasp out loud when I saw it. To carry out his revolution, he has formed the “Faith and Values Coalition,” a group whose mission is “to lobby for anti-abortion conservatives to fill openings on the Supreme Court and lower courts, a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and the election of another “George Bush-type” conservative in 2008.”
Fabulous. Now please excuse me while I go throw up.

quoting bob jones:
In your re-election, God has graciously granted America–though she doesn’t deserve it–a reprieve from the agenda of paganism. You have been given a mandate. We the people expect your voice to be like the clear and certain sound of a trumpet. Because you seek the Lord daily, we who know the Lord will follow that kind of voice eagerly.
Don’t equivocate. Put your agenda on the front burner and let it boil. You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you because they despise your Christ. Honor the Lord, and He will honor you.
… It is easy to rejoice today, because Christ has allowed you to be His servant in this nation for another presidential term. Undoubtedly, you will have opportunity to appoint many conservative judges and exercise forceful leadership with the Congress in passing legislation that is defined by biblical norm regarding the family, sexuality, sanctity of life, religious freedom, freedom of speech, and limited government. You have four years–a brief time only–to leave an imprint for righteousness upon this nation that brings with it the blessings of Almighty God.

According to TONY – Canada is looking better and better as an alternative place to live, and parts of it are still somewhat within spitting distance of our beloved Big Apple. I laughed when I read it, but, after reading that article on Fallwell, and the quote from Jones above . . . Remember that people thought Hitler was a looney who would never get anywhere! And history does tend to repeat itself.

Bad news. Canada probably doesn’t want you. Very restrictive immigration policies.

That sucks about Canada, but if I’m heading out, I think I’d rather go somewhere with better food and wine. Italy, anyone? How are their immigration policies?

I did pick up some info on a condominium project between Florence and Sienna while I was there…they took a tiny midieval town and converted it to updated (but old looking) units and homes. If we all chip in maybe we can afford a two bedroom place (sort of like NYC prices) Don’t know about immigration policies, and we will all NEED jobs. Another research project…
