You need to relax about the court. No way anyone to the right of O’Connor, for instance, is getting appointed under the watch of Arlen Specter as head of the judiciary. Bush just says those things about judges to get votes from conservatives who might be tempted to defect on other issues (war, spending, etc).

I wouldn’t be so sure. Sentate is likely to be 52 Republicans, 1 independent and 47 Dems. And Arlen is losing influence in his own party (witness Bush’s refusal to really campaign with him, despite Bush’s 40 trips to PA this year).
Bush will get at least one or two Scalia mini-mes.
