Things I Will Never See in Manhattan

I was up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York this weekend. While shopping at a local Wal-Mart for our 4th of July barbeque, I saw something that left me standing, mouth agape, in the midst of the freezer aisle.

Yes folks, that is a five pound bag. Staying in NYC looks better and better each time I leave. Once I recovered, I had a lovely weekend. A special thanks to Jeff for being an amazing host and showing me the sights. I’ll be posting the rest of the pictures soon.

If that “little” bag of TT’s at Walmart leaves your mouth agape – try COSTCO! You will have a permanent lockjaw! Nothin’ like the ‘burbs to make one appreciate the Big City.

what’s bad about a 5lb bag? a big family is a big family, and not everyone can afford to buy little expensive packages…

Nothing’s bad about it — it’s just not something you see around these parts. Space is too much of a premium.

Having grown up in western Oklahoma, yes, I’ve had such a dish. And variations too numerous to count.
While I’m at it, I’ll also admit to having prepared Bisquick’s “Impossible Cheeseburger Pie” for a family meal.
It ain’t all truffle oil out there, folks.

ahh tator tot hotdish…a delicacy in the Upper Midwest. 🙂 I grew up in central WI and tator tot hotdish along with all hotdishes…to many to count…were staples in our daily meal plans, not to mention our church, family, community potlucks.
