Considering getting a dog by the end of 2010, which will give me enough time to build up a budget for a dog-walker, doggie insurance, food, and the occasional kennel/dog-sitter when I travel. Thoughts?

I think dogs are fun and you have an entire year to do tons of research! Dog insurance isnt too expensive either but it is always a good thing to set a budget for food and toys and other expenses! I am really excited for you! Sorry its my first time on your page, but are you looking at a particular dog?

I’m allergic to cats, and am actually hoping to slow down my lifestyle a bit this year so that it can better incorporate a dog. Nothing in particular in mind — planning to adopt and apartment-friendly dog in NYC.
