Sadly I’m none too surprised at the controversy. It always amazes me how people get bent out of shape at spending a chunk of change of high-end food and wine but think nothing of spending lots of money on digital cable + high-speed internet + cell phones + travel, etc.

I made myself late for work reading all the comments on Gothamist! The pettiness of some of them amazed me. what right do they have to criticize how anyone spends his/her hard earned (or not) cash. Did anyone criticize The Donald for his unbelievably over-the-hill wedding? I personaly am envious of your experience. Your write-up almost put me there in absentia. If I weren’t a sweet old lady I’d tell them where to go! And I know that you spend a lot of (priceless and irreplaceable) time doing good works for those who are in need. I am truly amazed!
