The holidays are just around the corner, a fact which still seems completely mind-boggling to me. Even for those of us who aren't yet ready, the Third Annual Holiday Spirits Bazaar is a fun and boozy way to kick off the holiday season. $45 gets you admission to the Astor Center, 399 Lafayette Street, for either the 1-4 pm or 7-10 pm sessions, each with cheese and charcuterie from Stinky Bklyn and cocktails galore. And in the holiday spirit, a portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit the Children’s Aid Society of New York, and guests are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Booze You Can Use: Punch Tonight, Spirits Saturday
– You'll find David Wondrich behind the bar in the back dining room — now known as the Bar Room — at Brooklyn Fatty 'Cue tonight. Two punches adapted from Wondrich’s latest book, Punch: The Delights (and Dangers) of the Flowing Bowl
will be served. 7pm.
– On Saturday, you'll have the chance to taste holiday cocktail concoctions aplenty at the Dizzy Fizz Holiday Spirits Bazaar at Astor Center from 6:30 (VIP entry) or 7:30 (regular entry) – 10 pm. A portion of ticket proceeds benefit the Childrens Aid Society, to get you into the spirit of giving. The Dizzy Fizz has put together an evening at Astor Center to celebrate La Belle Epoque, offering turn-of-the-20th-centrury spirits, cocktails, punches, and absinthe, along with French cheese and charcuterie by Murray’s Cheese, SCRATCHbread rustic bread, live jazz by The Hot Sardines, a burlesque performance by Calamity Chang and more. Tickets are $40 and are available online.July 20-24: Tales of the Cocktail. And for those of you looking to plan in advance, tickets are now on sale for Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.
