Yesterday I noticed that my cell phone was off, which was weird, because I didn’t remember turning it off. I turned it back on and it immediately went off again. I had just charged it before work, so there was no reason for it to run out that quickly, I thought. Until I thought about it some more — that phone is over two years old and I understand that, after some point, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to hold a charge (like my antique iPod). Sigh — guess it’s time for a phone upgrade. I’ve got Verizon — any recommendations?

I can relate – the worst part is, a new battery costs just as much as a phone. My laptop battery holds a charge for about five minutes now.
Recommendations? Hmmm – I have Verizon as well and I find there phones are lacking on the whole. Have you seen the Blackberry Pearl? I’ve developed an inferiority complex just by looking at the thing 😉

I hate to say this, but you should just get the blackberry. I know, I know, you promised yourself that you would never get one. I will tell you what…if you get it and don’t like it I will purchase you another phone…serious.

Forgot to give you all the update. I didn’t get the Pearl, partially because I’d still have to carry my work Blackberry separately, as that one runs on T-Mobile service. I’m also not sure it’s available through Verizon anyway, at least not in NYC. I ended up with the Motoroka MOTOKRZR K1m, which has one of the best cheesy 80’s sounding rings I’ve heard. That’s not why I bought it, but I really like it so far.

Looks like a good choice Laren. That’s cool you get blackberry for work.
Verizon makes one phone that looks alright for email – although it runs on the windows o/s – and doesn’t hold a candle to the Pearl.
A cheesey ring is a perfectly acceptable reason to buy a phone. I love my ‘one beep’ ring.
