Geekin’ Out

I bought my current computer in 1999 — it’s time for an upgrade, as it’s currently being held together with spit and bubble gum.  This time, I’m thinking of a notebook rather than a desktop, and have been looking at the Dell Inspiron 600m & 700m.  Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions on these or other notebooks you love?  Keep in mind that I use my digital camera a great deal (big hard drive and memory card slot would be nice), need to hook my iPod up to it (Firewire port needed), and have small hands (so a mini-keyboard might not bother me as much as it bothers other folks).  I’m such a nerd — can’t wait to have a new computer!

If you don’t mind buying the current type of cable, the iPod actually connects over USB 2.0. Most PC laptops aren’t going to have Firewire, from what I’ve seen.
That said, the iBooks are very good. 🙂

Key action is key. Go to BestBuy and type on all the keyboards, and see what feels best. Even if the exact model you’re eyeing online isn’t in the store, manufacturers use keyboards across their lines mostly.

Yep, you’re best going into a store and seeing whats on offer.
Most laptops these days are coming with Firewire 400 – remember that Powerbooks have Firewire 800.
I’ve an HP laptop but the next one I’ll buy will be an Apple Powerbook.
Laptop’s are good but it depends if you want one that is portable or not… if you want it portable then go 15″ or under, 17″ laptops are generally regarded as desktop replacements.
Remember for HD space you can always buy an External HD – which also helps for backing up your computer.

Sigh. I think I’m going to wait another month until my finances are in better shape. But — No. Macs.
